Enterprise Master Person Index (EMPI)
ForSite2020® is a true pre-registration and registration-based access management system in every sense possible. At the core of the ForSite2020® application suite is a completely integrated Enterprise Master Person Index (EMPI).

Unibased Systems’ Enterprise Master Person Index (EMPI)
Unibased Systems ForSite2020® is a true pre-registration and registration-based access management system in every sense possible.  At the core of the ForSite2020® application suite is a completely integrated Enterprise Master Person Index (EMPI), which is integral to its operation.  ForSite2020® has the ability to act as either an active or passive EMPI, meaning the application can either assign (active role) or accept from other systems (passive role) the critical enterprise data elements of the Medical Record Number (MRN), radiology number, accession number, case number or internal Personal Identification Number (PIN).  Therefore, the EMPI has the capability to sit over the top of all of your enterprise applications.  ForSite2020® recognizes organizational boundaries but does not dictate them to the enterprise, thereby allowing you to select for yourself what represents a facility, a site or a department.  Regardless of definition, all the person-related data is kept in one record with multiples of any critical data elements stored by facility designation.  An internal ForSite2020® PIN number acts as the “master” number for the person’s record.

Manage, Maintain and Update Your EMPI
The data included in the EMPI consists of standard demographic fields along with linkage to all registration-based information.  Because it is a true EMPI, ForSite2020® will retain the patient, insurance subscriber and guarantor information as well.  Episodic information such as insurance company, diagnosis, physician, subscriber and guarantor are maintained at the registration level while generally static data such as social security number, date of birth, first, middle and last names, and address of record are retained at the general information level.  The data associated with the person’s registration and visit history is present for recall or reporting purposes.  When kept in sync with other systems via a two-way (real-time or batch) interface, all associated registration-related numbers are retained regardless of whether or not they represent a scheduled activity.  Any such data elements may be interfaced to other systems using standard HL7 or point-to-point interface technology.

Eliminate Duplicates
The creation of the EMPI is an essential step in the implementation process.  Prior to the initial conversion of the foundational records that become the EMPI, Unibased Systems provides a number of analysis tools to identify potential duplicate patients and key data elements so that they may be reviewed by your organization’s Health Information Management office prior to acceptance in the EMPI.  These analysis tools can be highly customized to analyze the specific data elements desired to determine the existence of duplicates.  Once the EMPI is established, ForSite2020® assumes a “watchdog” status to guard against the creation of duplicate records.  This can take the form of an active role, where analysis tools and reports identify the potential for new duplicates and present a side-by-side comparison of the data elements in probable duplicates; or a passive role, where duplicates identified through analysis of other systems are merged.  ForSite2020® supports the appropriate HL7 message to merge or to split, whether in an active or passive role.
